Hello there family and friends!
I have recently started training for a 70.3 Ironman Triathlon and I have decided to put all that time, effort, and sweat towards something I am deeply passionate about. Children At Risk, a non profit organization in the Ottawa area that provides respite programs for families with children who have Autism Spectrum Disorder. They are passionate, resourceful, and dedicated to helping these families to develop their children’s behavioural, communication, and social skills. Not only that, they are constant advocates for the ongoing needs of these children and their families. My favourite part about their programs is all the fun, learning, and quality experiences both the children and staff end up having!
As funding and donations for the majority of charities has been on a steep decline, and with the recent increase in minimum wage, amazing organizations like Children At Risk are finding it difficult to remain afloat. This both saddens and worries me because they provide much needed services to these families, a quality of services and dedication they won’t be able to find anywhere else in the city.
This is why I have decided to take the initiative to try and raise funds and awareness for this selfless organization while I swim, pedal, and run my way through one of the most difficult physical and mental challenges I have embarked on.
